James Bond Height Chart

How tall are the actors who have portrayed James Bond? This chart appeared in the supermarket tabloid The Globe in April 1992, under the headline "The Incredible Shrinking Bond." At that time, no new Bond films were in production due to protracted litigation. Rumors abounded that most recent Bond Timothy Dalton would be replaced, and Mel Gibson was a leading contender. Apparently this paper is making an editorial comment on Mel's unsuitability. Pierce Brosnan was not yet named as the 5th James Bond, this happened in June 1994.

For those not loading images, the heights in the illustration are given as follows:

• Sean Connery, 6 feet 3 inches tall
• George Lazenby, 6 feet 2 inches
• Roger Moore, 6 feet 1 inch
• Timothy Dalton, 6 feet
• Mel Gibson, 5 feet 8 inches

[However, the height that I have usually heard for Dalton is 6 feet 2, and Pierce Brosnan either 6 feet 1 or 6 feet 2.]

Compare these numbers to a the photo below taken in 1996 of Dalton, Moore and Brosnan. Dalton appears to be tallest of the 3, but he is nearest to the camera. Also, in the photo of Connery and Moore, Connery is taller.
