Replacing Pierce Brosnan as James Bond

In June 1994, Pierce Brosnan was announced as the new James Bond Agent 007, and signed a 3-picture contract (for GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough), with an option for a 4th film (Die Another Day). A flurry of rumors began in the summer of 1999 about Brosnan's future as James Bond. Brosnan's contract as Bond was not renewed in the summer of 2004. His replacement was announced after many rumors, in October 2005.
