The author of the classic 007 reference book, The James Bond Bedside Companion (first published in 1984), Raymond Benson was chosen by Glidrose (now Ian Fleming Publications) in 1995 to write new James Bond novels. He followed in the footsteps of Ian Fleming, Kingsley Amis and John Gardner. His first effort, a short story in Playboy magazine, was published in 1997. This was followed by 5 more full-length original novels and 3 film novelizations, including Zero Minus Ten, The Facts of Death, High Time to Kill, Doubleshot, Never Dream of Dying and The Man with the Red Tattoo. His final Bond work was the movie novelization of Die Another Day (2002).
