James Bond Books: Tomorrow Never Dies

The James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies starring Pierce Brosnan was released in 1997. A novelization of the movie screenplay by Bruce Feirstein was written by Raymond Benson.

A man who can start a war anytime and anyplace -- and profit from it -- would be the most powerful man in the world. Elliot Carver knows this. And he has a plan to turn his media conglomerate into a true empire, exploiting global conflicts he creates with on-the-spot news coverage guaranteed to bring him the highest ratings in television history.

It starts with a sudden mysterious skirmish that leaves 2 Chinese MIGs and a Royal Navy frigate at the bottom of the South China Sea. It could end with an all-out world war on live TV. But there is one man who can stop it....

Oversized, 119 pages of mostly color photos from the film. There are chapters on the script and early production problems, lengthy cast profiles, Costume and Make-up (Samantha Bond as Moneypenny "liked Clinique make-up and a MAC lipstick, with a more updated, slightly cheeky look"), Design, Direction and Special Effects, Secrets of the Car Chase, among others. The funniest part is a chapter called "James Bond: The Pain and the Glory," with subheadings of "Brosnan: the Injury," "Brosnan: The Day," "Brosnan: the Diet," "Brosnan: the Look" and "Brosnan: the Work-out". Two of the last three appear rather ironic, as Pierce has put on a good bit of unflattering weight since GoldenEye. Don't even get me going on that Eddie Munster hair style (which was apparently specified by director Roger Spottiswoode)...
