James Bond Books: The World is Not Enough

The James Bond film The World Is Not Enough starring Pierce Brosnan was released in 1999. A novelization of the movie screenplay (by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Bruce Feirstein) was written by Raymond Benson.

The World is Not Enough: A Companion, by Ian Johnson. London: Boxtree, 1999. A small hardcover "Making of" book has 172 pages with 9 chapters ranging from "Creating Brosnan's Bond" and "Finding the Plot" [obviously unsuccessful!] to "Thank Q". The credits list in the back gives a name to blame for Pierce's latest unfortunate hairstyle (though it is better than the Eddie Munster look they gave him in TND). There are also funny pictures of Pierce and Desmond L. "strangling" Bruce Feirstein and Pierce with gold foil on his teeth posing with Goldie. Published in England only. Order from Amazon UK or

Die Welt ist nicht genug: Das Offizielle Buch zum Film, by Peter Weller. Nurnberg, Burgschmiet Verlag, 1999. The German "official book of the film", this is quite different from the British companion. This book is softcover and is about 95% full of color photos, with explanatory text. The book is heavy on pics of Sophie Marceau (and fairly Denise Richards-lite), including 2 of her with Pierce Brosnan that I had not seen published any place else. 78 pages, on decent-quality paper.
