The Scarlet Pimpernel (1905)

The original story. Sir Percy Blakeney meets and marries the French actress Marguerite St. Just. Afterwards, he thinks she has betrayed his friends and sent them to their deaths, she thinks he is merely a fop and a fool. Citizen Chauvelin seeks the Scarlet Pimpernel and blackmails Marguerite into helping him. She learns her husband is the not the man she thought he was, but instead the "bravest man in all of England."
